At Kathryn and Maxime’s studio, you’ll be guided step by step as you learn to handle molten glass, understand how it moves in the flame and gradually shape it into delicate floral forms.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWelcome to the studio\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe’ll begin with a coffee and an introduction to the studio. You’ll discover the tools and materials used during the workshop, go over the essential safety guidelines and learn the basic principles of working with glass at the torch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGetting to know molten glass\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eBefore moving on to the flowers, you’ll learn how to control the heat and handle molten glass. A first exercise will introduce you to the basic movements as you create a small glass bead at the end of a stainless-steel mandrel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLearning to shape petals\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAfter a demonstration by Maxime, you’ll begin practising the movements used to create your first petals. You’ll learn how to stretch the glass and gradually alter its volume and shape directly in the flame.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBringing your flowers to life\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAs you gain confidence, you’ll refine your movements and create increasingly delicate petals. You’ll then build each flower by combining its individual elements and experiment with colour to create a bouquet that reflects your own ideas.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOnce your pieces are complete, they will be carefully annealed in our kiln to relieve internal stresses in the glass and ensure their stability.
